The Franz and Virginia Bader Fund makes grants to visual artists to enable recipients to concentrate on their art. At least one grant is awarded annually.
Eligibility and Restrictions
The Franz and Virginia Bader Fund welcomes applications from visual artists aged 40 years or older, who live within 150 miles of Washington, D.C., and can demonstrate that they have the potential to benefit as artists from a grant. The Franz and Virginia Bader Fund does not, however, accept applications from filmmakers, video artists, and performance artists.
Grants may be used for any purposes relating to the recipients’ work as artists.
Size of Awards
In December 2016, the Franz and Virginia Bader Fund awarded seven grants totaling $105,000.
The Franz and Virginia Bader Fund has an annual deadline: Applications must be postmarked no later than September 15.
Following submission of a complete set of application materials, applicants may be contacted by Fund staff for further information. All information given by applicants is subject to verification by the Franz and Virginia Bader Fund. The selection committee reviews eligible applications in the fall. The Fund notifies applicants of the outcome of their applications before the end of the calendar year. Decisions reached by the Franz and Virginia Bader Fund are final.
